When discussing improvements in revenue cycle management the focus usually turns to the topic of denial management. It is a well-accepted statistic in our industry that between 15-25% of claims have to be “touched” more than once before final adjudication. The goal for every practice should be a clean claims rate of 95% or higher. This is actually a very attainable goal with a little focus on prevention of the most common rejections that can also reduce denials further down the process.
